Mancave Throw Pillow

Well. Work on the mancave has begun. I've gotta say, this has been one of the most challenging projects I've ever done! It feels like we take one step forward and 10 steps back. Water, concrete, sump pumps...ugh! In the meantime, I wanted to finish a project. I needed a win. So I decided to make something for the man cave to help blend the Iowa Hawkeyes sports with the vintage/rustic/industrial elements. My mom had been on a trip and saw pillows in a store that had vintage pennants affixed to ticking fabric. This is a great way to use a vintage find in my decor and also allow me to sew. Two of my favorite things in one! I browsed Ebay to find the perfect pennant and paired it with black ticking striped fabric. A few quick seams and a mess of stuffing later, I have a great pillow for the mancave. This quick little project turned out better than I could have expected! Now to finish the basement...

Let me just say, I LOVE my home! January 2014, we made it one of our resolutions to purchase our first home. We thought we would achieve this goal by end of the year, but little did we know that in a matter of weeks, we would have bought a house, and moved the first of April! What a whirlwind process it was, but I couldn’t be happier with our home. It’s what I’ve always dreamed of…an old home with character, needing a little love and TLC (which makes it all the more “ours”!). When we bought, we knew that there would be lots of projects to keep us busy. I promised my wonderful hubby that his man cave would be our first big project. He needs a space to unwind, watch all that ESPN, and to entertain our friends and family. We could instantly see potential in this basement for his future man cave.
